Cannot edit my own comments in posts?

Why am I not able to edit my own former posts? Also, why am I not able to delete them if I choose to do so? All I get are error messages and the like?

I think the new software closes posts to editing shortly (an hour or so) after the post is made.
No trees were harmed to produce this message. However, trillions of electrons were severely inconvenienced.

You can ask a moderator to either edit, or delete your post. Bribes work, lol.

I think edits can happen within a shorter time span. I think it is somewhere between 5 to 10 minutes after the initial post. Image comments can be edited well after the image has been posted. The image title and description however cannot be changed by a regular user even if they were the uploader of the image.

A small update to this, since we moved from vbGallery to Photopost a couple of months back, image comments can no longer be edited after the fact.

burp you are correct. Old comments can't be edited by anyone, they can only be deleted. I have asked Tiger to fix this, however, no success so far. I would love to either fix or remove links made within the old Gallery which don't work so people don't get frustrated.

After I posted this, I went to the Gallery settings and see that comments are open for editing for 1 day after the initial post. I believe the software author used this same value for everyone not just the original poster. Another blackmark against PhotoPost software along with many others....

The edit time for the forum is 15 min from the time of posts.....to ensure that alot of data does not disappear from the site only a Moderator or higher can delete posts....Sorry this is what the owner has for all of his forums.

And with everything Moderated in the Gallery, it would exceed the time limit possibly anyway before it was approved, and I just looked to be sure and did not see an actual function for gallery comment editing....but Ill look again

It says yes that users can edit comments in the gallery, so they must fall under the 15 min rule.

I think what you say about the forum posts was always true but with vbGallery any user could edit the gallery comments (not the title or description though) pretty much days, months, etc after the initial gallery post. I know because I tried it back when I was a user and it worked under vbGallery. Photopost works entirely differently and there seems to be a bug in it because the supermods and mods cannot edit another users gallery comment either. We seem to be able to delete gallery comments but not edit them.
