Abiut a week ago, I promised (threatened?) that I would post a collection of works by Norway's most famous artist (quick, have you ever heard of another?) Edvard Munch. In that post, I called him, "the most depressing and depressed artist" in history. I stand by that judgment. No one ever used "Edvard Munch" and "party animal" in the same sentence except, perhaps, in jest. raised in a repressively religious atmosphere, haunted by the death of his sister, having a Madonna/Whore view of women (see "Madonna"), his titles include, "The Sick Child", "In the Death Chamber". "Vampire" and - most famously, "The Scream". Still, in spite of being a walking box of neuroses (he was a contemporary of Freud, who would have probably found him fascinating), he was a great artist. One word of caution, he was an Impressionist back when it was the hottest thing in art, so those looking for pin-ups will probably be disappointed by his haunting nudes.

Munch was a great, great artist. Thanks for posting those. They may not be considered erotic by today's standards, but there's an impressive and timeless erotic tension in much of his work.

Thanks for psoting them. They're beautiful. My favorite is the woman coming out of the sea. Kinda reminds me of Venus.

....quick, have you ever heard of another?....

...after rather a long time....yes....Johann Christian Dahl. His art was much influenced by German Romantic (capital R - please note) artists such as Caspar David Friedrich. Not surprising as Dahl lodged with Friedrich and his wife for a while.

Their paintings have a very very different feel about them from Munch.

...on Munch - his rather strange phallic setting suns are a trademark, so to speak.

Thank you for posting all the art, BEAUABER237. Much appreciated.
