Here's an old ad for "A Naughty Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales," illustrated by Rod Q. M'Gurk, Knight of the Brush.

In the 1970s this book was advertised in men's magazines. I'd gotten the book, but unfortunately it was stolen when my apartment in Boston was broken into.

It would be wonderful if some benefactor were to scan and post pages from his own treasured copy of this fun book.

A movie was made, "Once Upon a Girl," where Mother Goose was in a courtroom telling these stories, which unfolded as animated cartoons from the same source as this book. The book, however, has scenes (the giant's wife fellating Jack, etc.) not shown in the movie.

Yeah...I remember this add.

And, I agree...this would be a wonderful item to post here ( hint, hint  )

I would have ordered the cheaper one, but what with postage and the British Customs duty (I think it is 12.5%) that is now levied on all printed matter from the States , it would have been too expensive.

Hi Gents,
I'm brand new to the site. Found it doing an online search for M'Gurk's "Naughty Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales." My older brother is turning 60 in a few weeks and I was looking for a copy to give him. Apparently, I colored all over his edition when I was four years old and he's never let me forget it. I thought the book would be a great gift (brother to brother) but it is a difficult find. If you could include me in the loop for the scans, it would be choice and very appreciated. I could reciprocate by sending along similar material (well illustrated XXX fairy tales) but I'm sure they fit the vintage criteria (a bit too recent.) At any rate, thanks for letting me participate.

Hey,
Any progress on the M'Gurk "Classic Fairy Tales" scans? The more research I do I the book, the better it seems...but is VERY hard to locate.

So a few days ago, PhD posted some of M'Gurk's Goldilocks pictures...but they were all B&W. I understand the ones from the actual "Classic Fairy Tales" publication were in color (at least part of the book) so I hope plans are still on to share those and the other "stories" as well. PhD's generous post was like a commercial for a much better program.

jack will climb the stalk this weekend, so please be patient.

it gives me great pleasure to provide this classic in response to the great pleasure "MA" has given me, but I also work for a living and have a spouse that likes to know where I am.

LOL.

I haven't pursued the other tales from the book. One of our benefactors above scanned his book in .pdf format; I got the .jpg's from another site.

You can tell I'm into tall women... very tall women.

I see a lot of you have appreciated the PDF upload.

Is there anything better that I can provide for you?

It was hard to scan, especially in the middle of the book, without breaking the binding.

Are Jpgs that much better?

I still have to take the centerfold to work and scan it on the larger machine.

.jpgs are better but can be larger in file size depending on what quality level you set for the .pdf. I have found that scanning to .pdf at best quality gives almost the same size file as a collection of .jpgs when zipped. Separate pictures also have the benefit of being able to be viewed as a slide show.

However, in the end it is whatever is easiest for you the poster, and yes spines can pose problems, although one way is to scan in two halves (with an overlap) and then join in one of the software programmes,

My God--I have been looking for this for years. It was in the July 1977 issue of SWANK magazine. I stole my father's copy with this comic in it and never returned it and have looked for it ever since. Thanks for taking the time to scan.

I am glad that this has been so enjoyed seeing the number of downloads.

I am working on another project that is digital [complete tinto brass] & [converting 50 xxx VHS]and would like to move my copy of the Naughty Treasury to fund an input card. My wife would not like it on our coffee table, nor anywhere else at all, so off to someone who lives more freely. See my profile if interested or PM me. [kevin-if inappropriate let me know by PM]
