As I can't find the Introductions forum, perhaps this may be a good place to start.

This forum covers everything that's missing from the more contemporary aspects of Porn, and long may it continue.

I'll get into the other forums in due course, but in the meantime, here's an aspect that may have been overlooked (if it's in here, please let me know - I haven't found it yet!) - David Sullivan's production empire.

If you're based in the UK where we tend to have Governments that know what's best for us voters (especially the current mob), and so censorship has tended to be draconian at times. The Internet and closer ties with Europe have softened the approach somewhat, but there is still a pervading sense of fear to obtain porn legally. It's not readily available, shall we say.

Anyway, back in the Seventies David Sullivan built up a publishing empire based around Whitehouse magazine, which developed into Playbirds, Cover Girl International, and several others, which were soft-porn mags which pushed against the bar of acceptable legal publications in the UK. These were available in some newssellers, but not all, so he sold them through his chain of 'Private' shops. These are still going, but not under his ownership- he sold the company and went onto producing Soft porn newspapers (The Sport and Sunday Sport), and, I think, dabbles in politics.

However, he was also involved in movies. These were heavily edited for the UK market, and were soft in the terms of US and European levels of explicitness, and were often in the genre of the UK sex-comedies of the time (another thread for later?). The movies were only allowed to be shown in Cinema clubs in the UK because of their content, but I think that there were more explicit versions for what was termed the 'Continental' version in the UK at the time.

Anyone know more about all this? The movies were always advertised in the mags, and I managed to obtain a VHS of 'The Playbirds' which has much nudity, a weak story (they all were), but has one scene where the deed is obviously being done, not simulated, in a massage parlour.

These movies are impossible to obtain, but someone somewhere must have them, or more info. Any clues.
