View Full Version : Everything in one main gallery?

Kevin and moderators:

I joined the site at the very beginning: in January of 2005.
Along with Orvar, Sholo, Winger, and several others,
I was a holdover from Paulos' original myarchives.net site.

Three points.

First, Rabbit1 and Tiger's original site was pre-1980 only.
Then someone decided that Devon Daniels et al from the
1980s should be included, and a separate category was
created. This date dichotomy still exists. Isn't it time
to abolish the arbitrary date division and put everyone
in the same main gallery? This has already occurred with
Joyce Gibson aka Alexis Love. Why not everyone else?

Second, the 'previous' and 'next' buttons on many galleries
are not working correctly. Sometimes I get the image two
or three previous, and sometimes I get the image two
or three next. When trying to download a whole page,
this can be annoying. Could someone please check out
that portion of the software and see what is going on?

Third, and this is a personal preference. I have a great
respect for some of the women featured on this site:
e.g., Joyce Gibson (with whom I am acquainted), Joan
Brinkman, Janey Reynolds, and Diane Webber among others.
For decades, these women have defined the meaning of
'femininity.' I know their artistic standards. I know that
they would not be happy being featured on a site which
also features pornstars, porn pop-ups, and porn ads.

Thank you for maintaining the myarchives.net site.

Thanks vintagevixen, all good points and i'll try to answer them the best i can.

At one time the 80's section was combined with the main gallery on the gallery page, this was split i think as this was a huge page and took a fair while to load - it may have coincided with one of the server problems that can happen on any large site.

Alexis Love should really be in a sub folder under the Active Models Folder as i believe most of the images here are from the 90's and beyond - if i could get a handle on the dates there, that would be great.

The problems with the next and previous buttons in galleries :- if you can specify which folders we can check it out.

Unfortunately the cost of running this site would necessitate the use of advertising, i can remember two server changes in a short space of time - none of which would be cheap - I don't know what it costs to run My Archives, Tiger has kept the site a going concern now for just over four years and we join you in thanking him and i would like to thank the other members involved here that make the site what it is

This is only my personal view, but I would not like to see the pre 80s and post 80s rolled into one. Like Vintage Vixen I joined in early 2005 because of its emphasis on the 50s,60s and 70s.

Although I feel that the femininity of the models became lost in the mid/70s to more in your face sexuality, I had to accept that a lot of the newer members were not of the same age group as me and 'vintage/retro' to them was possible 1970s but certainly 80s - not really my scene. I welcomed the split between the eras as I don't have to scroll through a lot of 80s stuff to find what I want.

I also accept that some models work covers at least a couple of decades and may on occasions be longer and these can pose a problem of dating. Joyce Gibson is one of my favourites, but as I have said in another thread I am not too keen on her alter ego Alexis Love.

I would certainly not like to see a proliferation of the 90s which are creeping in, as there is then a risk of this great site turning into a clone of a number of other sites on the web.

Sorry if this appears a bit 'Soapboxy' - but this is a great site run by a bunch of super hard working guys, and I would hate to see it lose it's identity.

I belong to some forums (non adult) which run ad free. They are able to accomplish this with donations. Unfortunately, a very small number of dedicated members shoulder a vast amount of the cost as many of the "lurkers" etc just come along for the ride.

Unless Tiger makes this a pay site Im afraid the ads are a fact of life here. A small, small price to pay for what is the largest collection of images on the net.

To those that may know ladies whom we enshrine here, please let them know that the ads are a fact of life and in no way should besmerch their good name. I think its better than "Pinup Files" which makes a good amount of money on pics grabbed from here and in no way compensates anyone for the pics, be it model or photographer.
