Somewhere on this site there was talk about Roberta Pedon's background. While looking for some other vintage material I came across supposed biographical information on Ms. Pedon. I don't recall whether anything here was either corrborated or refuted, but it's worth a look.

Yeah, I wish there were stuff I could erase. Rosma was in fact a girl about the same age as Roberta. They knew each other in San Francisco, and at least once swapped i.d., which led me to the wrong conclusions about RP. I used to correspond a lot more openly about my research, and one of the people I was chatting with took the stuff about Rosma and ran with it.

The short answer is that some of what your linked to is true, but most of it is not. So far I know that she was alive and reasonably well in 1993, and I think she is still alive. If she is, I know that she does not want to communicate.

One of these days a good attorney might get the rights to her images back for RP, as was done for Richard Berry, composer of "Louie Louie" and Brian Wilson, whose father/manager sold the Sea of Tunes (Beach Boys) song catalog for $2 million back around 1970. Berry (and now his heirs) receive about $10,000 per month for that one song, and Sea of Tunes generates over $2 million PER MONTH.

For all the pictorial joy she shared with the world, she deserves a comfortable retirement!

I made the mistake of ordering "Roberta Pedon" 's death certificate under the "Rosma Grantoviskis" name. You can do it online through Alameda County in California. There was someone by that name, but it wasn't RP. Isn't it funny that "Roberta Pedon" and "Desiree Cousteau" aka "Deborah Clearbranch" just disappear? No trace whatsoever.

I think it's generally agreed that "Roberta Pedon" is probably not her birth name.

With all the publicity she's had over the years, some childhood friends or school classmates must have recognized her.

While I would not want to expose or embarrass any family members still around, having the correct name and where she grew up would be a start for putting the real story together. A Social Security number might track her whereabouts to this day.

I read that Desiree Cousteau is now, believe it or not, a child psychologist and lives in Georgia.

If she wanted her whereabouts known, I'd like to think she'd have made that information available at some point. Grant her her privacy, please--if only in recognition of the happiness she has brought to the multitude of so many red-blooded males, lo these many years.

Freud asked, "What do women want?"--to which I respond: "Well, with a single exception, I haven't a clue!"

Long in the tooth,

I recall the Playboy Playmate who turned weatherperson in the S.F. Bay Area. Her problem was she had an affair with then very married 49er coach Bill Walsh. She quietly left town when it became news. I'd pay Roberta Pedon $500 for her photo and autograph. We must not bury our models while they are alive. Betty Page made the rounds, so why not Roberta?

I know who you're referring to, but to my knowledge she's still doing the news here. I could be wrong though... I don't watch much TV. Thank god.

The Bio at the head of this thread seems to be backed up by Boobpedia as well. http://boobpedia.com/

Charlie has dug deeper and longer than most into the enigma of RP, and he has the personal experience and contacts within the '70s L.A. porn scene to filter, double-check and sift through the random and conflicting bits of "information" that pop up and float around the 'net. Plus he is, like the rest of us, a sincere fan of those special two-dimensional goddesses!

I'd consider him THE AUTHORITY and give his findings and opinions greater weight than any unverified-contributor, johnny-come-lately online "source".

We await his decades-in-the-research RP bio, whenever it may see print.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I've been chugging along on this too long now, and most of the misinformation in those on-line bios came from me because I was too eager to talk with folks when I was in the early stages of research. As I think I mentioned above, Roberta knew Rosma; at least once they swapped i.d., or she used Rosma's i.d. and that threw me onto a different trail.

Among my other problems, the publisher originally interested got sold to a cookbook publisher, and they weren't interested in my project, so I'm shopping it around.

Kristine Hanson was her name. She is now doing "The Dirt On Gardening" on the DIY Network. If Roberta Pedon was processed through the Alameda County Coroner and issued a death certificate, then certainly an employee would remember her. You see, if she was still in California, or died here, there would be hundreds of "Oh! I remember her". But there aren't any. I doubt this Rosma person is Roberta Pedon. What attractive, big-boobed lady is EVER cast aside and forgotten? None. Too make it interesting I'll bet $100 that Rosma isn't Roberta. Any takers? I used to work at the San Francisco Coroner and they are very friendly people. I'm sure Alameda County Coroner would be too.

Maybe you could get an article, rather than a book, into Playboy or another major publication. Score might be even better (Now THERE'S a good book publishing candidate!). Her pictures would make it an easy sell.

Don't give away the juiciest parts that people will have to buy the book to read. Just tease those who remember her and fascinate some who've yet to meet the '70s icon.

Perhaps some mainstream publicity would jog some memories or lead RP acquaintances to share their own memories, with or without attribution?
