I don't mean yesterday's stock market; I mean some of the real life details about the ladies we are all interested in.

I used to work in the business, peripheral to the models, so mostly I could rattle on about Arv Miller and Larry Shaw and Milton Luros; but I did get to know a couple of the models and heard a lot of yarns. By the way, that stuff that was written next to the pictures? You know, about how they were all college student studying psychology, and they were doing this for tuition money, and they wanted to meet "Mr. Right", and someday they would have a breast reduction? Well, all that was made up by a fat old guy smoking a cigar who had never come closer to the models than Chatsworth is to Ventura.

But I wanted to start this thread by just asking for your thoughtful opinions, because I have occasionally dropped a comment in other forums and been totally flamed for implying that some sweet young thing with huge knockers may actually have made a living doing something besides teaching handicapped kids...

I think it likely that at least two or three of us know some details.

seriously anyone who would believe that stuff is going through some serious wishful thinking. hardly any of it was true then with the models featured here and the same can be said for the models in today's market. most of the time models lead boring lives in between photo shoots and occassionally going out on the town. sure, some have kids, but who wants to actually read that while in mid-jerk off session? it's about writing something that makes them look naughty for being there in the first place. back then it was "naughty" that got people off, whereas now in the all-out sex mags, it's the dirtiness that gets people off. so, if anybody seriously thinks that that sort of stuff about teaching handicapped kids while busting out the titties in the girlie mags in their spare time was a reality....all I gotta say is i've got some beachfront property in nevada i'd love to sell to you:D

"Well, all that was made up by a fat old guy smoking a cigar who had never come closer to the models than Chatsworth is to Ventura."

That is classic! And, you mean there were WORDS under those pictures? Sorry, I, I just never noticed there were words. Learn something new everyday. :p :p

Lordy, lordy, Rabbit1!! You reside in Florida...

Well, Bunny Yeager... Is she still alive? Fantastic old girl, she was showing us her boobies back when Truman was President and taking pictures of nekkid women in the 1950s and 1960s and 1970s. Lived in Miami, I think. Still does if she's still living...

And Dawn Knudsen, according to fables, was the biggest-titted ho in Fort Lauderdale between making movies in the 1970s. There's a Yahoo! group devoted to her that got a couple of posts from a guy who had picked her up.

Uh, by the way, I hope there's nobody out there who thought Dawn was a virgin...

A good place to start is The Other Hollywood by Jennifer Osbourne and Legs McNeil, published in 2004, about the porn film industry, which got its start in Florida. I especially loved the chapter titled "Vicky Killed the Nudie Cuties" about the girl who "invented" deep throat cocksucking and the South Florida bikers who loved her.

By the way, Ms Osbourne not only has a brilliant mind, but a great rack, too.:p

I just happen to know the distance between Chatsworth and Ventura. I wasn't in the magazine part of the business but spent some time behind the bar in the mid 60's at some strip joints in Texas. A dancer I was living with at the time was in a movie shot around that time but unfortunately I don't recall the name. The dancer was Mickie Lee(go go)Misty Winters(stripper).

Interesting thread this one.

It can touch raw nerves and produce good or uncomfy emotions talking about the ladies we see and seek.

Jealousy, for instance. My preference is for no men in photographs.

I think we are all here for fantasy, at the root, and none of us likes to have the bubble pricked by reality.

I love hearing from folks who may have had contact with our lovely ladies. Charlie runs a yahoo club on Roberta and Mary Waters which are excellent sites and full of cool stories and data.
My only run in with a bona fide retro gal would be when I had my picture taken with Sue Nero. She was totally ditzy but sweet and her body was simply killer!

Ah yes I reside in Florida --but like most here I am a transplant---lol

and where I live there are quite a few more mature women who if they did not have a life in the early porn industry ---missed a good chance. :ol

Thank you for your post, Delighted. That's what I want to talk about. For example, today I posted a note about Candy Barr's death. In the process of writing that I visited several sites that had information about her. I knew virtually nothing about her before, but from reading the information about her, it seems pretty clear to me that she worked as a prostitute when she was very young (One short bio mentioned that she made "Smart Alec" after "accompanying an older man back to his hotel from a club") and had associations with a number of Mob figures.

Fans of a lot of current big boob models do not seem bothered by the fact that Minka, Daphne Rosen, Elizabeth Starr, and others essentially make their livings by "private meetings" with fans or work as escorts.

I have found that a fair number of fans of retro models bought into the "girl next door" stories that were popular. I once mentioned that I met the young woman who is probably the premier '70s big-boob model when I bailed her out of jail in San Francisco after an arrest for prostitution, which upset a number of her fans. Darlene English and Mary Waters worked for longer or shorter periods as escorts, as did a number of others.

One of the major problems was simple economics: In 1970 to 75 big-boob models were paid $50 for a full day photo shoot. A few were paid $100 a day, but only if it included hardcore. On the other hand, I once represented a model who was hassled by the local police (in 1975) when she was working as an escort and was paid $250 (half the $500 "meeting" fee) plus a $250 tip; but the payment was made with a stolen credit card. I should note that in that night she had made 1/4 what an associate lawyer made in a month...

Anyway, I would like to hear from others whether or not we should discuss these things.

Lesabre1, good to hear from you. I picked those two California cities for an obvious reason: Many of the photo shoots were done in Ventura, but the editorial content was written in Chatsworth. Open your three favorite porn mages of the 1960s or 1970s and chances are good one of them will have an address on Lassen Street in Chatsworth on the inside.

But your friend Ms Mickie Lee/Misty Winters; did she ever do any posing for magazines? If she did, she probably picked up a few other names, too. See Winger's thread, "The Name Game".

It's funny in a way. A much younger friend once mentioned seeing his ex on a website after, as he put it, she discovered "she had a shirtful of earning potential."

I have two ex-wives. The second one was a one-shot model in Gent. The first one, whom I refer to as the Ice Princess, got in touch with me a few years ago after a silence of thirty years. We had a few chats and caught up with what we'd been doing. I mentioned working in the business. She finally got around to asking me, somewhat awkwardly, if I'd ever come across a photo shoot that looked like her. I had not; but it seems that one quarter in college back in the 1960s she needed some money... It was like finding out that the family nun had been a stripper.

Thanks for the interesting topic and bios. It's good to get the background stories on some of our favorite girls. I lost track with all the folks in the nightclub business and all the dancers including Micky/Misty. That was several lives ago :p

I'm not sure of the question. Are you asking if we should discuss the "Real" lives of models for whom our previous notions were forged by boob magazine bios? If so I can only wonder why that question needs asking. Anyone who believes those probably believes the letters that start out, "Dear ***** Forum, I never believed you letters were true..." Hell, as a father of two women I don't even believe I know everything about them and would be shocked if I did. Or not, as the case may be.

The truth of the matter is that I was a surrogate father of a girl who went into the porn industry. I can tell you she has a good heart but an incredibly screwed up life that includes abandonment by her biological father, a self-centered greedy mother with convenient religious beliefs and was abused physically by every boy she ever dated and then labeled ruthlessly when she tired of the abuse. She quit the business and moved home recently and, though she doesn't regret her work, loathes the porn industry. I have never watched her work past the point where the sex begins but she has told me once you are in a movie they push you harder and harder to go past whatever personal limits you thought you had set on yourself. When I watch porn I try not to think about her stories, and I try to avoid the gagging, slapping, hair pulling and other forms of disrespect that seem to have become endemic to today's films, knowing that somewhere there is a father, a mother or a brother who would vomit if they saw it. That's one reason I only frequent forums that are retro or vintage.

Also to your point, I watched the movie "Wonderland" the other night (again). John Holmes' end of life was a nightmare, and that doesn't even include the AIDS part. I wonder how many of your flamers even know that story?
