I would respectfully beg to differ for a number of reasons. It is called choice. There are a number of good ones out there. I really appreciated having alternates being available.

Yes, Rapidshare is the king, numero uno. Rapidshare does not need to offer any special rates to attract users. It is basically pay or price or wait your turn. Rapidshare has had some file access and download problems over the past week, specifically the entire service was down for about half a day and currently there is an unexplined problem accessing specific files. Over the last 24 hours, I have had over 100 valid files that could not be accessed. About 20 were on a mirror that a could download. The use of multiple servers is prudent for those cases.

Many people, myself included, use alternative servers because of personal preference or they were given a link to it and signed up a premium membership because of the number of files that they were accessing. Some like the offers, many times half the cost of Rapidshare. Uploading and linking earns them points and enables many to maintain that membership for free.

It is all about choice. "Choose wisely"
