I recognize the Pauline Hickey sequence from H & S Sales. This copy is not very clear.

Each sequence is made up of separate and autonomous movies. I wish there were a way to join them. Typically a movie broken up by HJSplit has file names such as filename.avi.001, filename.avi.002, filename.avi.003, etc.
and when we join them using HJJoin we get the single restored file, filename.avi

If I were to rename these segments adding the numbered extension, can they be joined that way? Playing minute-sized, bite-sized pieces sucks after a while.

No it wouldn't work as the sequences have not been split using HJ split.

Try joining the sequences with Movie Joiner, from MovieToolBox, or Windows MovieMaker.

Use EZ Merge - I believe it's free. As an example it took less than a minute to assemble the 4 Laura Sands segments and then about 10 minutes to convert to MPG from WMV.
