Many people have told me that they are getting red x's instead of pics. I can assure you that 99% of the pics on here work.

Usually the problem is people with Norton Internet Security have privacy control turned on and for some odd reason it blocks the pics. I have no idea why this happens but I had to turn my privacy control off also.

If its not that its usually another firewall, ad blocker or some other program running on your computer. Please double check these programs and their settings before messaging me saying you can't see pics, will save us all some time.

I had the same problem in the beginning. Could access the site but could not see any pictures.

I do not know your system settings, but I was told, and at the same time I did found out myself, that I had to allow 3'rd part cookies. In my case it was my firewall (Zone Alarm), which blocked for 3'rd part cookies.

My advise is too check your firewall, and switch off the blocking for 3'rd part cookies. Further check your browser, and if it is a good browser, you can allow 3'rd part cookies for this site only.

Normally it will do the trick.

I uploaded a lot of pics of Candy Samples, Ebony Ayes and Virginia Felsom on Thursday, August 23. How can I remove my pics that not showing anything but red X's?

Is something I can do about?

I don't think they can be fixed, they will be removed. Also ron - watch it with the flooding ok?

Following your temporary 'shut down' there are now a batch of 102 pictures, dated between 10.53am 23/8/07 and 9.51 25/8/07, which only show the dreaded red X - all the others before and after display correctly at all levels.

Which does seem to indicate it not being firewall/anti-virus related.

I've tried to create an avatar but the selections are all red-x boxes and also, when I select one, it only shows in my profile as a red-x box. However, I can see other people's avatars in their profiles. Any advice?

Sounds like the generik avatars are out of order - make one up or grab one from somewhere, be careful as there are size limits for uploaded custom avatars.

Kevin, thank you for the help with my avatar. As you can see, I got it working by using the custom option.

One more question. Before, when I would click "Gallery" I would get the 10 new pics and then, scrolling down (not very far) I would get the 'random' selection - a great feature. But now, after the 10 new pics, I have to scroll down for about a mile past ALL the categories to get to the 'random' selection, and there are only 10 (2 rows) instead of 30 (6 rows).

Did I somehow muck up my settings? Is there a simply way I can make it work like before?

Thanks for the feedback glad to be able to help Aeron.
That gallery page has changed and will probably change again, the site owner - Tiger has tweaked the software to get the best result for the site with the least strain on the server.
I don't use that gallery link above as like many other members it is quicker to bookmark the links you use the most for example > New Gallery Replies (http://www.myarchives.net/gallery/browseimages.php?do=newposts&cutoffdate=1) and New Images Last Day (http://www.myarchives.net/gallery/browseimages.php?do=newimages&cutoffdate=1) and i also have the two main galleries 80's and Pre 1980's linked separately if i ever need to find something or do some work

Thanks again, Kevin. I'm glad to know it wasn't me messing with my settings that caused the change. I did like the old gallery option, but if this current version is better for the website, so be it. This is a wonderful website, truly a delight. Much praise to the owner, the mods, and everyone who contributes to making it the virtual Shangri-La it is!

Just wanted to say I really like the new Gallery display. When you click Gallery, the ten random images show at the top of the screen and the ten most recent images shift to the bottom, below all the specialty links. Much more convenient. The Gallery is a great feature. Why? Because it's full of surprises!

Ah, I'm seeing long delays in the picture galleries, taking a long time to load up, even to get in initially?

Everything else on the web working fine?

Ah, ok, for a few days now, I can't see any pictures in the Galleries? Listings/text is there, but no .jpegs?

Is this just for some or for all depending on what browser you use, what security you use, etc.?

I am using FF 3.6.15 and FF4.0 with Norton IS 2011 allowing 3rd party cookies and Spybot SD with no problems in viewing either galleries or forums pictures (up to now at least) - so possibly browser/security settings.

Using Firefox 3.6.16 and no pictures anywhere on this site, just this site, all other sites working fine?

This appears to be a problem for many others as well.

Is anyone doing anything about this? I see posts in the Chat, but no responses from any Moderators or Engineers?

Well, we could try paying the people who maintain this "free" site.
I haven't heard that suggested yet.

Nothing has been changed on the site by me or more importantly Tiger, i am not experiencing any of these Gallery problems with FF or Opera - a couple of times cannot connect but that's not the same kind of problem.

> am not experiencing any of these Gallery problems with FF

Nor I. None at all. Everything is smooth and peppy (gads! does anybody still say "peppy"?)

I don't think there's much hostility about it, but there is a lot of bewilderment because so many, on all sides of it, haven't changed anything about the way they use the forum. I figure if I can't relax and find something else to do for a couple of days then I have bigger problems than what's happening here.

I've been just letting it ride for the past couple of days, but it's now starting to get a bit old. This is the 2nd time this has happened. It happened about 2 weeks ago for about 3 days, then everything came back until now.

Here's the nub from my corner of the world - I've not changed anything on my PC other than to upgrade Firebox to 3.6.16

I'm holding off on upgrading to 4.0 until Firefox works out some bugs with some of their add ons.

Now I'm in the USA using IE and Firebox as browsers, those two accounting for the majority of browser activity in the world and I have not been able to see any pictures in the Gallery for weeks? I've no problems with any other web site.

Therefore it would seem logical that the problem rests on My Archives end? Either somebody hacked into the code or something has been changed at My Archives to account for this problem.

Let's proceed on these assumptions until somebody can show differently, ok?

The fact that someone in Australia can log in with no problems doesn't solve the problem for those that are seeing nothing. And it appears that those seeing nothing number into the hundreds/thousands?

This site is paid for through advertising and depends on visitors clicking on the ads and buying. If no inquiries are made into what is causing the problem, it would seem to me that My Archives will lose a lot of potential advertising revenue.

This site is mostly about pictures/video. Take that away for an extended period of time and you have customers going somewhere else.

P.S. Kevin, your posts are highly appreciated especially since you seem to be the only person responding on behalf of My Archives?

Over the past three or four days I'd been unable to view gallery images.
I typically have three browsers loaded and checked all three noting in
the forum chatbox that there might be performance differences between browsers.
I tried two more and found that the images became available for short
intervals and then were lost during that time period -

when they appeared in one browser, they appeared in all, when lost in one
they were gone from all.

The browsers are.
- Firefox (3.6)
- IE (8)
- Opera (latest)
- Netscape (9.0)
- Safari (latest)

On two or three occasions both the forum and gallery have been lost
for a few hours. I haven't tried to enter through google. At the moment,
everything is working again, but the site was down for me again for a few hours just
prior to posting this. I'm trying to contribute this before it goes down again.

Hope that helps.

I've had no luck replying to this thread, but just in case this works, add me to the list of members unable to view the photos. it's been almost a week and other than the few people here, no one seems concerned.

I've had a different problem, and I see at least one other person is having the same problem. Since Friday night, when I go to http://myarchives.net, I get a page that says "Welcome to the home of myarchives.net" The second line reads "To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory." Below that is a multi-colored "X" and below that, the date the message was first created Friday, March 25 at 20:16:09, which is after I logged off on Friday. The only way for me to access the site is thru Google or Bing, which both take me straight to the homepage to log in. Once I'm in, I haven't had any difficulty seeing any of the pics as the other seem to be having.

Thanks.

Posting for Forum ( in sequence)

I find, that when sending a post in sequence, it's best to start from the back () Imagine image 1-4, you should send Image 4 (first)

It work's for me!!
