At first sight it looks great which if the main 'My Archives' site is anything to go by it will be really great.

Many thanks, yet again, to Tiger for his hard work - not to mention that of the moderators as well.

Tiger never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge of the workings of maintaining an intricate web site plus his great innovations...kudos to you for a great new format!

Can we upload clips? What are the size limitations?

Tiger

Yes you can upload. Size limit is set at 1 gig right now :).

Not having uploaded to a 'tube' site before I presume the file format must be .flv, is that correct?

I don't think so, because I've uploaded a .mpg and a .wav so far.

Thanks Charlie.

The only reason I asked is that all the clips I've downloaded so far have been .flv, however I will sort out some clips and give it a go as it will save having to convert to .flv every time.

The software converts whatever format you upload to FLV.

Tiger

You can upload most movie formats. The software just coverts them to a flv after it is uploaded and generates the thumbnail.

How does one d/l these files?

Copy the code from the Embed box, below the video

http://content.imagesocket.com/thumbs/uk1b4.png (http://content.imagesocket.com/images/uk1b4.png)

Paste it somewhere (like a Word document)

There's a link in the code that you have to isolate: The one that ends in flv. That's the video.

http://content.imagesocket.com/thumbs/nnnb58.PNG (http://content.imagesocket.com/images/nnnb58.PNG)

All you have to do is copy and paste that link into the address bar of your browser, and you'll be given a download prompt.

OR, if you use Firefox try one of the download 'add ons' such as Un Plug, which sort out the .flv files for you to select & download.

It's still in Tiger's post at the beginning of this thread.

I really love this new section but don't you think it would get a lot more views and hopefully uploads if the link for it was moved to the Vintage and Retro Movies section?

Just a thought.

The link to the tube is on any page in the gallery. http://www.myarchives.net/tube/

Another reason for this being the truly best and greatest vintage site that it is. Keep up the great work.

Not to be unpolite, but what is the good idea in this 'Tube' thingy?

You can't use the movie after the conversion to *.flv anymore.

Am I missing something here?

Of course you can play FLVs

Here's the most popular media player and it plays them: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

I know VLC Player. I use it all the time.

But is the format *.flv high?
How much information is lost compared to *.avi?

Nice -- thanks, Tiger!

Didn't even need to re-register.
