Hi, new here and couldn't believe no one posted Barbara Stanwyck. She has been my favorite since I saw her in "Double Indemnity".

She was to Fred MacMurray what Lana Turner was to John Garfield in "The Postman Always Rings Twice".
Two great murder for love stories from the Los Angeles film noir era.

Barbara Stanwyck is unquestionably my favorite *star*let of the pre-1960 era. Her beauty charm and grace went so far beyond the physical body it was incredible, yet inhabited one of the most beautiful female forms... ever. Check her out in "the Lady Eve", a great movie that has everything including Barbara in spades.

Double Indemnity is great but it's well recognized. I've probably seen it 7 times. The Lady Eve is also tremendous--extremely funny--despite being much less well known and should not be missed. Stanwick is among my favorite actresses (with Claudette Colbert) though I don't think of her as great looking. She does look shockingly good in the Lady Eve though. For those who really like her, she had some interesting pre-code roles as well.

I actually haven't seen Double Indemnity, I'll check it out. Yeah I don't think she would have been the greatest of nude models or anything, though her form is perfect for that archetype. It's more that smoldering wickedness and strength well packed in such a slight frame I find so sexy. Can't photograph it.

If you are a Barbara fan I would also recommend "Ball of Fire" co-starring Gary Cooper.
