Looking at the 8mm film covers from Harrison Marks that Orvar66 posted - anyone know how long a 100' film ran and the value of a shilling or a pound back in 1960?

the £ in 1960 was worth about 16 times what it is today. so the reel advertised at 80/- (ie £4) would cost £64 today. serious inflation - much as a lot of today's models!

That's pretty big money. I guess HM's clientele was at least upper middle class. How many minutes did a 100' reel run?

Just think about the hassle of setting up a screen and darkening the room only to have your film burn up if the projector jammed.

i believe a 100ft reel ran for just under 7½ minutes.
