Just a small thought from me..It seems that a lot of the regular site members and visitors have got a bit tired...no wonder really..I mean browsering through the gallerys and uploading pics has some days taken a life time.
...Yes I have a accurate spyware protection and I even defragment my harddrive regulary and so on. and Iīm not a computer moron so..but it seems a little sad if this nr1 site just gonna be a retro site whit many passive members but no life.....I still think that reconsidering some new software would be the thing to try....
All the best to you....Geocor,molotov.winger,doctorx etc...where ever you are.
Orvar.

Brother Orvar and all,
I am like Rabbit in that I have no problems with the site. I do hope that things get worked out for those that do have problems.
This site has gone from being a fun little niche place to discuss and ogle retro women, to a mammoth repository for thousands upon thousands of pictures. Sometimes it boogles me when I look for something as I cannot believe how many individual models are listed. The absolute pinnacle of retro pay sites do not have one tenth the inventory that this place contains.
Be that as it may, I can only speak for myself, I have pretty much exhausted my picture files and I cannot really spend much time looking for others as the computer I now use is the home of my online business and my daughters and wife use it as well from time to time so I have to be somewhat cool about what I have on my hard drive.
I love this place, not only for the great content but for the many friends I have made.

Hi
I have posted some comments in other threads on my thoughts covering this problem.
I am based in the UK, and when I first dicovered the site several years ago had no problems with "speed". However, as the site has grown the speed has slowed. Like Orvar I have a fairly fast PC with an 8mb broadband connection and all the usual and some less common security software.
The main issue seems to be in downloading the full size pics or for that matter uploading them - it can take anything up to 5 minutes per picture. I have tried several times to upload a set to the Playmate Gallery without success as it times out every time.
Interestingly the Forums and the thumbnail galleries are OK.
However, I have noticed that if I log on before say 10am GMT then the speeds are not too bad about 90 secs. After that the speeds slow down over a period of time.
I am not sure if the speed problem is just an issue for people outside the States, if so could it be that it is the internet itself which slows down when the northern hemisphere has all woken up.

strange this is most of the newer members do not have this problem at all ---I have logged on at different times of day and have seen no speed problem at different times ---there are new uploads and the newer members seem to have no problem downloading ----once again if it were a site or software problem we all would have the same problem ---I did in the beginning when the software was first changed over ---then like I have said I got rid of spyware and it speeded up for me ---others have done other minor little things and it worked for them ---I do not have the answer to this problem
I too hate to see our older members leave ---but with not finding a problem in the software or on the server itself there is not a thing I can do

I can see what you mean, but this is a great site
with all its retro , vintage stuff, its 50 years of pinups
or taking Hollywood into consideration, more like
100 years of pin ups.
I guess it was in the early 60s when things began
heating up and all the topless magazines began to
appear paving the way for the permissive 60s.
That old devil, Hugh Hefner probably set up shop
back then in the early 60s too, he saw a gap in the market
and went for it.
My idea for this forum was to be a bit more specific
ie a section for 50s glam
60s glam
70s glam
80s glam
it would be more focused than just saying retro etc.
Bardot and Jayne mansfield would make it into
the 60s section of the forum while Sam Fox would be in the 80s forum etc.
It would be a place to ask questions and swop pics for each particular decade.
who would be the glamour pin up of the 50s ?
Doris Day comes to mind ..... maybe Heddy Lamour ....
BTW I think that guy was right, the forum can be a bit
slow, at least from here in the UK.
