I have been scanning some old pictures and keep getting little squares of the pictures that are overlapping each other. It looks bad. I can see some of these in some posted pictures but not as bad as the ones I have. Any idea what the problem is?
Let me see if I can help.
If you are scanning from old magazines, then it might be 'moiré'. Old magazines was printed with tiny dots, and if you look on a page with a magnifying glass then you can see the dots. Solution is to use the moiré correction funktion. The picture will loose a bit of its sharpness, but that is a low price to pay considering that you actually can get a very bad headache looking at a picture with moiré.
Or it could be, that you are scanning in a low resolution (dpi) and then try to enlarge the picture. The graphic in a picture is called bitmap, and is made of squares. When you enlarge the picture the squares are enlarged too, which will make the scanned pics look like squares that are overlapping each other. A golden rule is that you cannot enlarge a picture more than 10% without quality loss.
Some basic rules for scanning.
1: Use a program like PhotoShop or likewise to scan the picture.
2: Scan in 300 dots per inch (dpi).
3: Save the picture in the program's file format or in .tif.
4: Make the corrections needed in the program.
5: When you are finnished with all the corrections, take a copy of the pictures and convert them to .jpg (if you are going to upload them to the internet).
6: Change the dpi from 300 dpi to 72 or 100 dpi. (for the internet. Normal is 72 dpi, but this site needs a better quality, so I would suggest 100 dpi).
7: When it is done the pictures are ready for uploading, and still you will have the original scanned pictures in a good quality for your own use - viewing, printing etc.
I hope that your problem was one of the above mentioned, otherwise I do not have any ideas.

Glad "My Archives" is back. In the old one, wasn't there a section called "Vintage Hairy" or "Hairy Vintage" ? Wish that was still included.

Just when I thought there couldn't be anything new on the net, I discovered this site. There must be 1000's of guys who love the images of women you're posting! On their behalf, and out of gratitude to the guys and gals who are posting, thank you! Please folks, look at your "vintage stuff"; have you got a scan that can make this site more appealing? Post it! You won't be disappointed....
